AN ALlEN TIME / THE ABOVE-SPACE:
YURRDANUR ŞENTÜRK

The Charles Muses and Arthur Young duo uses the foliowing expression in "Consciousness and Reality": "a tree, a table, a cloud and a rock; ali are dissected into a single thing which has been formed by the science of the 20 th century. The partide which turns steadiiy in accord with the rules of quantum physics becomes a bundle of waves, that is, everything we can observe is a three-dimensional picture which is composed of waves that stand and move due to electro-magnetic and nuclear processes.

Thus, everything we see in the world is a three-dimensional picture which has corne to existence electro-magnetically. Or if you wish, you can cali it an above-hologram picture". According to this description, if the first act in the picture is to dispiay and construct disharmony and the logic of hannony, this process is fulfihled by the appearance of color, new forms and the knowledge of light through the mysterious language of the old and new universes which Yurdanur Şentürk's brush constantly constructs and demolishes. If such a process is the initial action, then the first point of contentment is invariably the canvas' challenge of an aesthetic proposal. Existing and disappearing chains of existence are the constructive stones of Yurdanur Şentürk's art. The artist knows, that the esential movement is a circular one.

She draws details wihch spring from the whole. She introduces us to new elements. Another important act on the canvas is to create a personal rear space. Just iike the ancestors of humanity feed man today, the space and pictoral elements Şentürk constructs at the background of the canvas feed its frontal elements and keep thern alive, letting the frontal plane lean on the one behind it. Şentürk supposes that the singie-syllable ceil is loced up. She forces the ciosed locks to open up thru the use of color, her colors are actually imaginative because the artist sends the color shades she gets from the light to her canvas as marks. Yurdanur Şentürk does not create art for the sake of creating it. Neither does she want the art object to have o clear place in thehierarchy (or the chaos) of the universal system.

Black and navy blue: The colors of the sky and of the night. The colors of sleep and nirvana. The undefmed objects are there. Queer glides, quivering materials. the appearance of incomprehensible alien forms. The search for mental essences which transcend ideas gives a clue in these pictures. On the other hand, the artist who is a part of this world di erts her eves tü the eiements of other wavelenghts. as she touches the essential are in her pictures. she also opens it up to two elemental concepts such as the concord an discord. That is when the language of a new being comes tü existence in the picture. That being constitutes the coded and hologramic egg of a wholeness which both repeats and renews itsef over and over. The secret language in alI of her pictures whispers, "consciousness is in the wholeness but our physical being is temporal. Light flows into man as long as he does not refuse it". Yurdanur Şentürk's aesthetics takes the spectator to unexpected and sudden joumeys.
